8 The Clerk of the Court
Assists, updates and informs the judge. S/he prepares all the case papers for the judge and makes sure the judge is fully prepared for court. The Clerk usually sits just in front of the judge. The Clerk conducts the swearing in or affirmation of oath. When in court they wear a gown, starched collars and tabs.
